You Are Strong
I was glass before I died
But I came from muddy waters not fine sand..
They told me I could only shatter
Them pearls could shine. I didn’t matter…
So of course I did.
But finless fishes still have teeth
And tiny tadpoles can still swim
So why then did I not see.
That though I was soft, my curves could cut
My little black life was more than they worth.
That though I was small, my will was not
My little sad voice could stomp on a storm.
Do not wilt like I did
For the dead can not wish
But why then did I not see
That you mustn’t be a Sloane Ranger to live.
