Law Students To Have Extra Year Extension Before Law School
The Nigerian Bar Association Legal Profession Regulation Review Committee (NBALPRRC) has recommended that Nigerian Law Students should have another year extended to their 5-year degree in the university before entering the Nigerian Law School.
The committee led by Anthony Idigbe (SAN) and its sub committees led by Prof Ernest Ojukwu (SAN), Funke Odekoya (SAN) and the NBA President, Mr AB Mahmoud (SAN) was established to, inter alia, ensure high standards in the legal profession.
The Committee made several recommendations, among others, which include that after the Law degree, law students should do a 10 months practical course or attachment before proceeding to Law School.
The rationale behind this line of action is that hopefully, the legal profession would be able to produce more competent lawyers.
